Former Indian opener Kris Srikkanth has backed Vaibhav Suryavanshi after Rajasthan Royals opener continued to impress in the ongoing IPL 2026. The left-hander scored a magnum opus knock of 103 runs off just 37 balls with the help of five and a dozen sixes. He scored his runs at a blistering strike rate of 278.38. Thus, he played a key role in helping RR post a par score of 228 runs on the board.
The 15-year-old had the rub of the green on his side as he was dropped by Aniket Verma when he was on 32 and he was able to make the most of his second chance.
This was the second IPL century for the youngster and he became the fastest batter to 1000 T20 runs. But, his efforts went in vain as SRH registered a five-wicket win however Srikkanth backed the 15-year-old to become the demigod of cricket one day.
Kris Srikkanth said on his YouTube Channel, “If Sachin is the God of cricket, he’s going to become the demigod of cricket one day. He’s smashing 15-ball 50’s consistently like it’s nothing. The consistency in this boy is amazing. And he is a demolisher who finishes off the match in the first five to six overs. RR are escaping just through his batting and Archer’s bowling.”
“Cummins is the world’s best captain and a World Cup-winning captain. Yet, he was clueless and didn’t know what to do with Suryavanshi. He has gone above Yashasvi Jaiswal to the point where Jaiswal is also now trying to attack, but got out. SRH thought they could again dismiss him, bowling at the rib cage area. But Suryavanshi dispatched every ball to the boundary cage.”
The 1983 World Cup-winning player backed the youngster to be fast-tracked into India’s T20I team.
“He is truly a wonder-kid. The entire world is awestruck by his batting. He’s hitting guys like Bumrah, Hazlewood, Narine, and Cummins for sixes straightaway. It’s almost unfair how effortlessly he smashes sixes. I’ve already said several times that he must be fast-tracked to the Indian T20I side. He must play India’s next T20I game,” said Srikkanth (via the aforementioned source).
“You’ll not get a player like him often. He’s a generational talent. All the bowlers look scared of him. It doesn’t look like he’s under any pressure or facing any challenges or nerves when batting. He shows no fuss even after scoring a 50 or 100. And the best part is, he doesn’t play across the line. The wrist work is extraordinary.”
Rajasthan Royals will next take on Punjab Kings at New Chandigarh on Tuesday.
