Former Indian opener Kris Srikkanth has predicted five players who can win the Player of the tournament award in the ongoing T20 World Cup. Srikkanth picked South African skipper Aiden Markram and England all-rounder as the first two choices.

The 1983 World Cup-winning player picked India’s mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy among the potential candidates. Srikkanth also named New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner and South African fast bowler Lungisani Ngidi as the other contenders.

Srikkanth said on his YouTube Channel, “It is between Aiden Markram and Will Jacks. It’ll depend on the semi-final and final. That’ll matter a lot. Varun Chakaravarthy has a chance to an extent, especially if he gets another couple of Player of the Matches. Ngidi will be another strong contender. Santner is another one who has been doing brilliantly.”

Meanwhile, Aiden Markram has scored 264 runs in six matches of the ongoing T20 World Cup at an average of 66 and a strike rate of 178.38. Thus, he has led from the front and has played an instrumental role in providing a solid platform to the team.

Will Jacks has scalped seven wickets in six innings and has also added the finishing touches for England.

Varun Chakravarthy has scalped 11 wickets in six matches for India. However, the mystery spinner wasn’t at his best in the last two games against South Africa and Zimbabwe. 

Lungi Ngidi has snared 11 wickets in five matches for South Africa and has bamboozled the opposition with his slow dipping deliveries.

Meanwhile, New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner has picked only two wickets in six games. The left-hander has scored 77 runs in four innings at an average of 38.50 and a strike rate of 157.14.
