Former Indian captain Kris Srikkanth slammed Suryansh Shedge’s selection in the second T20I after India suffered a 0-2 series loss against Ireland. Shedge made his T20I debut against the home team in the second game at Belfast on Sunday but could not deliver the goods as India suffered a one-run loss.

The all-rounder conceded 25 runs in the two overs he bowled and also went wicketless. Furthermore, the Punjab Kings batter was dismissed after scoring a solitary run after facing five balls.

Kris Srikkanth said on his YouTube Channel, “Guys like Shedge should be relegated to the shed. Playing him as a batting allrounder at 8 without him bowling much is of no use. He should not play at all. I am not sure how he came in as the replacement for Nitish Kumar Reddy. He may have some deadly performances in domestic cricket but in the IPL, he didn’t produce anything deadly.”

Srikkanth backed the pace trio of Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana and Prince Yadav and said Washington Sundar should not be part of the final XI. The former national selector wants Varun Chakravarthy and Axar Patel to be the two spinners in the team against England.

“Arshdeep Singh also doesn’t look that great. If he gets wickets, he’s lucky to get them. Harshit Rana as a bowling all-rounder and Prince Yadav, who has great persistence, should be in the 11. Washington Sundar should not be in the 11 too, one spin-bowling all-rounder in Axar is enough. Two spinners are enough with Axar and Varun Chakaravarthy,” said Srikkanth (via the aforementioned source).
