Afghanistan Test and ODI captain Hashmatullah Shahidi has picked Virat Kohli as the one Indian player he would love to have in the Afghanistan team. The left-hander said Kohli’s record speaks for himself as he has been a consistent performer in all three formats of the game.
Kohli has produced great numbers across all formats and he has delivered some great performances in the last 15 years. The talisman is always hungry for more success and he is always known to keep grinding at the top level.
Kohli is 35 runs away from reaching 27000 International runs and he would look to keep up the good show.
Hashmatullah Shahidi said on Shubhankar Mishra’s YouTube Channel, “There are many, but I would go with Virat Kohli. Look at his stats, his performance. He has 50 hundreds in ODIs, which is a massive achievement. It is very easy to say, but going out and hitting hundreds as many as fifty times is something very big. His stats speak for himself.”
Meanwhile, Kohli returned with scores of 6 and 17 in the opening Test match against Bangladesh at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, which India won by a gargantuan margin of 280 runs. The right-hander decided not to go for the review despite getting an inside edge onto his pad in the second innings. Ergo, Kohli will look to come up with an improved show in the second Test.
The veteran had a mundane run in the T20 World Cup but scored a match-winning knock of 76 runs off just 59 balls in the final against South Africa.
The second Test match between India and Bangladesh will be played at Green Park, Kanpur from September 27.
