Ireland captain Lorcan Tucker said they have tried to do as much research as they can on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi ahead of the two-match T20I series. Sooryavanshi, 15, earned his maiden India T20I call-up after scoring 776 runs in 16 matches of IPL 2026 at a blistering strike rate of 237.30 and an average of 48.50 for Rajasthan Royals.
The youngster continued his rich form, scoring 94 runs off just 29 balls in the tri-series final against Sri Lanka A at Dambulla on Sunday.
“It’s pretty incredible for them to have a 15-year-old in their team. I didn’t think that was ever going to be possible in this professional era,” Tucker said ahead of the series.
Tucker said Sooryavanshi is a special player and they would look to spoil his debut if he gets his chance.
“Credit to him, he’s a pretty special player. We’re hoping we’ll see him this week. It will be a big moment for him, but it would be great to spoil that party for him. Most of the hype here has been about him making his debut in this series. He’s obviously an absolutely incredible talent. He blew the IPL up and we’ve tried to do as much research as we can on him.”

Sooryavanshi has been the cynosure of all eyes in the last three months and he has shown the skills to go a long way in his career.
India will play the first T20I against Ireland at Belfast on Friday.
