Indian opener Smriti Mandhana has retained the top position in the latest ICC Women’s ODI batting rankings released on Tuesday, continuing her impressive run at the summit of the global standings.
Mandhana remains the highest-ranked batter despite India’s recent struggles in the format. Her teammate and captain Harmanpreet Kaur also held her position, staying steady at eighth place in the rankings.
However, the update brought disappointing news for another Indian batter, Jemimah Rodrigues, who slipped to 12th position following India’s 0-3 ODI series defeat against Australia.
While India saw limited movement in the rankings, several New Zealand players made notable gains after strong performances at home. The White Ferns have been dominant in their ongoing three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe, securing an unbeatable 2-0 lead after the first two matches.
New Zealand’s new captain Melie Kerr emerged as one of the biggest winners in the rankings update. Kerr delivered an outstanding all-round performance in the series, including a remarkable seven-wicket haul in the second ODI in Dunedin. The performance made her just the seventh player in women’s ODI history to claim seven or more wickets in a single match.
Her impressive bowling display helped her climb five places to 11th in the ODI bowlers’ rankings. Kerr also improved her standing among all-rounders, rising one place to fifth on the ODI all-rounders’ list.
Kerr was not the only New Zealand player to make significant progress. Brooke Halliday surged eight places to 11th in the ODI batting rankings after producing a sensational unbeaten knock of 157 from just 117 balls in the opening match of the series against Zimbabwe. Her innings played a key role in New Zealand’s dominant start.
Teammate Maddy Green also moved up the rankings, climbing four places to share 22nd position among ODI batters. Green contributed with a solid 67 in the first match and followed it with an unbeaten 27 in the second game.
Meanwhile, the latest T20I rankings also saw several changes following Sri Lanka’s series win over West Indies in a three-match contest in St George’s.
Sri Lankan opener Hasini Perera jumped 15 places to 28th in the T20I batting rankings after scoring an unbeaten half-century that helped seal the series in the final match.
Young batter Imesha Dulani also gained ground, rising 17 places to equal 72nd after her unbeaten 34 in the series decider. Fellow Sri Lankan player Kavisha Dilhari moved up in both bowling and all-rounder rankings, climbing to 21st among bowlers and 11th among all-rounders.
For West Indies, veteran spinner Afy Fletcher was the biggest mover, rising four places to seventh in the T20I bowling rankings after taking three wickets across the final two matches of the series.
