Former Kolkata Knight Riders batter Manvinder Singh Bisla reckons the veteran duo of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma benefitted from a long break after IPL 2025. The experienced pair played professional cricket in the three-match series against Australia after a long hiatus.
While Rohit had top scored in the series with 202 runs, Virat had scored 74 runs in the third ODI after bagging two ducks in the first two games. Rohit scored an unbeaten knock of 121 runs off 125 balls in the third ODI and played a key role in India’s comprehensive nine-wicket win.
Rohit and Kohli have all the experience under their belt and they were able to make the most of it on the tour Down Under.
Bisla said on India Cricket Canteen YouTube Channel, “It is not an easy task to serve for how long they have. They have given 15-20 years to the Indian team; it’s a very big thing. It’s good that they got such a break after the IPL for the first time. They would have spent time with their families, and it was good to see them look so fresh physically and mentally.”
Bisla, who scored a match-winning knock of 89 runs off 48 balls in the IPL 2012 final against Chennai Super Kings, said that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are two crucial cogs in India’s ODI team.
“Rohit and Virat are very important for the Indian team, going forward. If there is an elder brother in the family, it becomes easy for the younger brother. These are two elder brothers of the Indian team.”
Rohit and Virat will be next seen in action in the three match ODI series against South Africa.
