Australian skipper Mitchell Marsh will be ready for Abhishek Sharma challenge in the upcoming T20I series. Sharma is expected to take the aggressive approach against the Australian bowlers from the get-go and provide a quick start to his team.
The left-hander has been in fine form in the recent past as he recently scored 314 runs in seven matches of the Asia Cup at an average of 44.34 and a blistering strike rate of 200.
Abhishek is currently the number one batter in the T20I rankings and he would look to carry his rich form against Australia.
“Abhishek is such an incredible talent, he sets the tone for them and has been outstanding for Sunrisers. He’ll definitely be a challenge for us, but that’s what you want — to test yourself against the best players in the world. We’re looking forward to that,” said Marsh in the pre-match press conference.
Abhishek has scored 849 runs in 24 T20I matches at an average of 36.91 and a whirlwind strike rate of 196.08.
On the other hand, Marsh revealed that Josh Inglis is fit and he is available for selection for the first game against India. The Australian wicket-keeper bat was ruled out of the New Zealand series due to a calf strain and was also not part of the ODI series against India.
“Yep, Inglis is fit and available. We’re obviously excited to have him back, he’s a very important player for us. I’d say he’ll bat at four. There’s one player we’ll follow up on, but yeah, he’s ready to go,” said Marsh.
The first T20I between India and Australia will be played at Canberra on Wednesday.
