Former Indian batter Mohammad Kaif has showered praise on Suryakumar Yadav for keeping his cool amid the Super Four clash against Pakistan at Dubai in the ongoing Asia Cup on Sunday. The Men in Blue registered a six-wicket win against the arch-rivals as they chased down 172 with seven balls to spare.
SKY decided to field first after winning the toss and Pakistan won the first half of the innings, scoring 91-1 in 10 overs. India was sloppy in the field as they dropped a total of four catches but Yadav didn’t show any anger at his fielders, which impressed Kaif.
Kaif said on his YouTube Channel, “Look at Suryakumar Yadav. Four catches were dropped, but watch his reaction. By reaction, I mean he didn’t show any anger at all. He was completely calm and composed. In such a high-pressure match against India and Pakistan, even though the bowling wasn’t perfect, Suryakumar didn’t panic at all.”
The Natwest trophy final hero compared SKY with Rohit Sharma and praised him for backing his bowlers and fielders.
“I was watching to see if he would get angry or scold anyone. He didn’t show any emotion. This reminds me of the way Rohit Sharma, as a captain, used to lead: backing the bowlers, encouraging the fielders, clapping for them, and saying, “No worries, the catch will come next time.”
Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav has an impeccable record as India’s T20I captain, winning 22 out of the 26 matches.
Kaif said, “Suryakumar showed that same calm and composed leadership . He has captained 26 matches, winning 22 of them, which gives him a winning percentage of almost 85%.”
India will next take on Bangladesh at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai on Wednesday.
