India’s fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has revealed that he shares a good bonhomie with Test skipper Shubman Gill. Siraj said he and Gill have been playing together since a long time and know each other inside out. The duo also plays for the same franchise – Gujarat Titans.
Meanwhile, Siraj recently picked 23 wickets in five Test matches against England at an average of 32.43. Siraj was India’s hero at the Kennington Oval as he returned with match-winning figures of 9-190 and played a key role in India’s epic six-run win.
On the other hand, Gill was able to lead from the front as he amassed 754 runs in five Test matches at a stunning average of 75.40, including four centuries, while leading for the first time in the red-ball format. Thus, he played an instrumental role in India’s 2-2 series result against England.
Mohammed Siraj told RevSportz, “Shubman and I have been together for a long time. We have played India A. We have spent time off the field as well. We made our Test debuts together at the MCG, and also became ODI No. 1 (ICC rankings) at the same time. We have a lot of memories together. He’s also the captain of Gujarat Titans. We bat at the nets together and keep talking. I keep telling him that you’re my bunny. Our understanding is very easy and it reflects on the field. He understands what I want, what I don’t and vice versa.”
Meanwhile, Gill also led the Gujarat Titans to the IPL 2025 playoffs while leading in his second season. Siraj said he is proud of Gill’s growth as a skipper.
“I am really proud of his growth as a captain, and now that he is the vice-captain for the Asia Cup as well, I would definitely want him to bring the trophy back. All the best to him and the team.”
Gill has been appointed as India’s vice-captain for the upcoming Asia Cup.
