India’s fast bowler Mohammed Siraj recalled the memorable win against England at the Oval in 2025, when he was the star of the show. Siraj had a brain-fade moment as he stepped onto the boundary after taking a crucial catch of Harry Brook, who went on to score 111.

The match was then slipping away from India before Siraj made up for his error in the field. Siraj bowled a perfect yorker to get rid of Gus Atkinson and returned with nine wickets in the match, including a five-wicket haul in the second innings. Eventually, India registered a thrilling six-run win and drew the series 2-2 against the hosts.

“It was very difficult to win from there. But again, something happened with me. I took that catch but stepped on the boundary. Again, I felt like, why am I being tested like this? But I decided that I would win the game. I got up at six that day. But I was really very fatigued. There was a voice within myself that said that I would win the game for the country. I have never had such a rhythm ever on day five as I had that day,” he said. (via Sony Sports Network)

On the other hand, Siraj also recalled the loss against England in the Lord’s Test. India was close to winning the game but suffered a 22-run loss. Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Siraj were going strongly but the latter was unfortunately bowled by Shoaib Bashir despite middling the ball.

“It was a young team and had we won the series, it would have been very satisfying. It was a game we should have won. Bumrah played 70-80 balls. Then Jadeja scored 60-70 runs. My only plan was not to lose my wicket. But see how I am tested all the time, and I am at the front in every situation. I got very emotional about how I could get bowled after defending so well. If it was my mistake, fine. But I defended the ball. That hurt me,” he said.

Siraj took 23 wickets in five Test matches against England in 2025, the most by any bowler in the series.
