India’s fast bowler Mohammed Siraj revealed he is not completely 100 percent amid the second Test match against Sri Lanka at Colombo. Siraj has been bowling consistently below 130 kmph in the ongoing series and has bowled within himself.
The fast bowler returned with figures of 1-33 in 11 overs he bowled in the first innings against Sri Lanka. In the opening Test match at Galle, Siraj bagged a total of two innings across two innings.
Siraj said a long hiatus after the IPL hasn’t helped him in achieving the right rhythm.
“I wouldn’t say I’m at a hundred percent from my side because I’ve come back after a two-month break,” Siraj told the host broadcaster via Cricbuzz. “I’ve been struggling quite a lot with my rhythm in this situation because I haven’t been able to find that rhythm. So I’m just trying to get my rhythm back.”
Siraj said he is making the most of his experience on the Sri Lankan tour and he is trying not to leak runs.
“Whatever I’ve been able to do, I’m using my experience and trying to control myself as much as possible while bowling,” he said. “Because if I think too much, I’ll leak runs, I’ll come under pressure, and the team will also come under pressure.”
The fast bowler said he is trying to build pressure by keeping it simple as much as possible.
“So my attempt is to keep it simple,” Siraj said. “If I’m not finding my rhythm, what can I do? I’m just trying to build pressure, build pressure, that’s what I’m trying to do.”
Siraj got the big wicket of Niroshan Dickwell in the first innings of the second Test match, strangling the left-hander down the leg-side, at Colombo on Tuesday.
