Former Indian fast bowler Mohit Sharma showered praise on Gujarat Titans’ bowling after they registered a comprehensive 82-run win against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, in the ongoing IPL 2026 on Tuesday.
After posting a fighting score of 168 runs on the board on a tricky wicket, GT bowlers were able to bowl out Sunrisers Hyderabad for a paltry score of 86 runs, and thus boosted their Net Run Rate.
Kagiso Rabada was the pick of the bowlers as he returned with impressive figures of 3-28 in his quota of four overs. Furthermore, Jason Holder continued his good form, taking 3-20 in his four-over spell.
Prasidh Krishna bagged two wickets, whereas Mohammed Siraj and Rashid Khan took a wicket apiece.
“This is such a phase in the tournament where you want those things to click that did not click before. So, when you win a 160-170 game in this way, where you bowl out the team for less than 100, then the confidence of the bowling unit is sky high. What else do you need from the bowling, where the first four bowlers are picking up nine wickets, there was nothing left for Rashid to do,” Mohit Sharma said on Cricbuzz.
“In this current cycle, GT are showing that their bowling unit is as powerful as the top order. Kagiso Rabada has that experience, and we saw today how much of it he has. He broke the backbone of Hyderabad, and after that, they did not get a chance to recover,” he added.
On the other hand, former Indian pacer Zaheer Khan praised GT’s dominant performance and said SRH were not in the contest.
“GT actually scored less than what they are capable of, but after the match, it feels it was way too much. You did not see SRH in the game at all, so this is a massive win. It is a massive achievement for the bowlers that they wreaked havoc on the batters in such a way that they made it a one-sided match. They are getting better and better this season,” Zaheer Khan said on Cricbuzz.
With this win, GT vaulted to the top of the IPL standings.
