MS Dhoni is like Benjamin Button: Michael Hussey says he ‘keeps getting better’

Chennai Super Kings batting coach Michael Hussey has likened MS Dhoni to Benjamin Button. Dhoni, 42, is still fit as a fiddle and has been consistently delivering the goods for the franchise over the years.

It is worth mentioning that Benjamin Button is a fantasy story with the physical state of an elderly man, who ages in reverse.

Meanwhile, Dhoni led the franchise to glory in the previous season as CSK defeated Gujarat Titans in the all-important final, with Ravindra Jadeja smashing 10 runs on the last two balls against Mohit Sharma.

Meanwhile, Dhoni was able to add the finishing touches in IPL 2023 for CSK. The talisman scored 104 runs in 12 innings at a staggering strike rate of 182.45. The CSK captain smashed a total of 10 sixes in the previous season.

“He’s preparing really well. His knee seems good at this stage. And he’s batting extremely well at the moment. I must admit he’s like Benjamin Button! He keeps getting better,” said Hussey at the inauguation of the Pavit Singh Nayar Memorial All India inter-college T20 tournament at Guru Nanak College in Chennai.

Hussey added Dhoni is hitting the ball cleanly and he can add the finishing touches for the franchise.

“He’s not as young as he used to be. So, the scampering between the wickets is going to be more difficult for him. But at the back end of the innings, where there’s not as much sprinting, he can still hit the ball very cleanly. And he’s hitting the ball extremely well at the moment. It’s great to see,” Hussey added.

Chennai Super Kings will begin their IPL 2024 campaign against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on March 22.
