MS Dhoni is my favourite batting partner – Rishabh Pant

India’s wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant has named former skipper MS Dhoni to be his favourite batting partner. Pant stated it is easy to bat with Dhoni as he lays out the plan and one has to go with the flow. However, the rookie batsman also admitted that he hardly gets a chance to bat with Dhoni.

MS Dhoni is always known to stay two steps ahead of the opposition and it is well known that he makes the life of his teammates easier on the field. Dhoni has a plan for every situation and he is a master of taking the game to the last ball. Thus, Dhoni gives himself the best chance of winning the match as a finisher.

Furthermore, Dhoni is a quick runner between the wickets and pushes his batting partner to run harder between the wickets. In fact, Indian captain Virat Kohli had also recently said that his favourite batting partner is MS Dhoni, as both of them are livewire between the wickets.

“My favourite batting partner is Dhoni but it’s very rare that I get the chance to bat with him. If he’s out there, everything remains sorted. He lays out the plan and you just have to follow his lead. The way his mind works is amazing, especially during chases,” Pant said during a Twitter interaction with Delhi Capitals.

On the other hand, Rishabh Pant also revealed that he likes to bat with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Pant added that there is a lot of learning experience when he bats with the senior players as they make his job easier by taking all the pressure.

“I enjoy batting even with Virat bhai and Rohit bhai… actually, whenever you’re batting with any of these seniors, it’s a different experience altogether. You have fun with them. You realise how their mind works. It’s a different chemistry… even with Iyer and Shiki bhai (Dhawan) in the IPL,” Pant added.

Rishabh Pant had a good start to his career in the Test fold but he could not grab his chances in the limited-overs format. Thus, KL Rahul is currently the number one choice for wicket-keeper batsman in the whilte-ball version as he has made most of his chances.

Pant will need to make a solid comeback to once again knock on the selection doors and he will aim to be at the top of his game. The left-hander will play for Delhi Capitals in the IPL. Pant had scored more than 350 runs on the previous Australian tour and he is going to hold the key in the forthcoming tour.
