Former Indian fast bowler Ashish Nehra has warned every other team of Mumbai Indians ahead of the resumption of the Indian Premier League.
The five-time champions are known to come up with collective efforts and that’s what makes them a successful side.
The defending champions have a great mix of experience and youth and the team management is well known to guide the players on the right track. Every player knows his role and mostly delivers on the big stage. Furthermore, Rohit Sharma is also known to get the best out of the young players.
MI also has quality all-rounders such as Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, and Krunal Pandya, who can turn the match on its head. Moreover, Jasprit Bumrah is one of the best death bowlers in the world and the team also have Trent Boult, who can swing the ball in the powerplay overs.
Speaking to Cricbuzz, Nehra said: “In the last 5-6 years, when have CSK and MI not looked dangerous? It happens very rarely. See, this is a team that has done a lot of hard work to build this side. Have assembled a large support staff. They like to tick all of their boxes and that makes this team strong. They back the youngsters but at the same time, value experience as well.”
On the other hand, Kieron Pollard has played a key role in the success of Mumbai Indians. The West Indies captain has delivered while batting down the order for the Rohit Sharma-led team. Pollard is one of the hardest hitters of the ball and he can hit the ground running with the bat.
“The role Kieron Pollard has played in the past few years is commendable. The way he carries himself on the field and even along with his teammates is really good to see considering that he is an overseas player.”
Nehra added that all eyes will be on Hardik Pandya as the all-rounder will start bowling and will play a key role for the team. Pandya had not bowled a single over in the first phase of the IPL due to his back issues.
“All eyes will be on Hardik Pandya once he starts bowling. He has been a little up and down with his firm as of late. Mumbai Indians will be keeping an eye on this as well. When runs come out from Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard it could put even the big teams in trouble.”
