Mumbai Indians batter Naman Dhir has given credit to the franchise’s batting Kieron Pollard for his success in the ongoing IPL 2025. Dhir has revealed that talking to the West Indies legend has helped him a lot in this edition of the tournament.
Dhir has been consistently providing the finishing touches for the Mumbai Indians in the ongoing season. The right-hander from Punjab has scored 186 runs in nine innings in IPL 2025 at an average of 37.20 and a blistering strike rate of 182.35.
Meanwhile, Dhir scored a fine cameo of 8-ball 24 against Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Wednesday and helped MI post 180 runs on the board. Dhir smashed 20 runs off four balls against Mukesh Kumar in the penultimate over.
“The conversations with Polly gave me a lot of confidence… He has played close to 700 games. Strategic planning for each bowler while watching videos helps me plan my game with him. Thankfully, I was able to execute it well,” Dhir said in the post-match press conference after MI’s 59-run win over Delhi Capitals (DC) on May 21 (Wednesday) that led to them qualifying for the playoffs.
MI were 123-5 after 16.3 but Dhir and SKY smashed 48 runs in the last two overs. Suryakumar Yadav also scored a fine knock of 73 runs off just 43 balls.
“We were trying to keep things quite simple. The wicket was on the slow side, so we were trying to just time the ball rather than muscle it. That’s what we practice daily and talking to Polly and Hardik bhai has helped me a lot,” he added.
Mumbai Indians will play their last league stage match against Punjab Kings at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur, on Monday.
