Pat Cummins talks about Indian youngsters Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant

Pat Cummins recently revealed that he was a big fan of Shubman Gill. The number one ranked Test bowler in the world talked about Gill’s methods and how he always manages to stay relaxed and calm while playing. The duo will be united, playing for Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2021.

“He’s good, he’s young. He wants to take the game on and is really relaxed,” the star Aussie pacer said in an Instagram live by KKR in the build-up to their opening IPL match against Sunrisers Hyderabad here on Sunday.

“He doesn’t take cricket or life too seriously. So it’s good fun to be with him,” Cummins added.

The two squared off against each other in the Tour Down Under where Shubman Gill made a remarkable impression in his first few international games. He was one of the players who helped engineer a monumental victory at the Gabba which hadn’t been breached in decades before. Gill scored a counter-attacking 91 that helped set up the run chase of 328 at the Gabba.

“I get along really well with Shubman. It was a great debut for him last summer in Australia. We had some good contests out in the field. I really feel happy for him, he had a great start to his Test career,” Cummins said.

Fellow youngster Rishabh Pant was also immensely responsible for that victory. It was Pant who stepped up the chase with just a few overs to go in the day and took on Cummins as well. He finished with an unbeaten 89 off 138 balls and hit the boundary that helped India breach the fortress of Gabba.

Australian pacer Pat Cummins has been impressed by Pant’s batting in recent games and lauded him for his bravery. According to Cummins, Pant accomplished what ’50 other players’ can’t even imagine.

“As a fan, you always tend to enjoy someone who is playing a completely different game than everybody else. They are fearless, you look at them and feel geez wish I could do that as well, geez he was brave. So, I think in three recent series it was Rishabh Pant,” Cummins told in recent show called ‘Morton Someday’.

“You just got to say well done when someone plays like that, takes the game on and it comes off. You’ve probably got 50 other players who probably wouldn’t have taken the game on like that. He’s always good to watch,” the KKR added.

Kolkata Knight Riders begin their IPL campaign against Sunrisers Hyderabad on the 11th of April in Chennai.
