India’s fast bowler Prasidh Krishna has heaped praise on Virat Kohli after the team registered a eight-wicket win in the opening ODI against the West Indies at the Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday.

Kohli scored a magnificent knock of 139 runs off just 88 balls with the help of 10 fours and nine sixes at a strike rate of 157.95. He added 151 runs with skipper Shubman Gill to put in a commanding position in the run-chase of 296.

The veteran also became the second batter after Sachin Tendulkar to complete 15000 ODI runs and he got to the milestone in 74 innings quicker than the Master Blaster. This was Kohli’s 55th ODI century and his 86th International ton.Prasidh Krishna said in the post-match press conference, “It was unbelievable. Sitting outside, we were thinking – what do we bowl to him at that moment? He was striking the ball really well. All of us have grown up watching Virat Kohli. To see him do what he did today was unbelievable. I think all of us were excited about it.”

On the other hand, Krishna said he is trying to improve his bowling at the fag end of an innings when the opposition batters are trying to score quickly.

“Every single session we go in, we are looking to improve at something. Every game poses a different kind of a challenge. Slog overs (bowling) is something that I am personally trying to get better at. As a team as well, we would like to address that phase and get better at it.”

Krishna returned with decent figures 2-60 in 10 overs he bowled against the Windies. The lanky pacer was the pick of the Indian fast bowlers and accounted for Keacy Carty and Roston Chase.

The second ODI between India and the West Indies will be played at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati, on Wednesday.
