Prasidh Krishna has replaced Mohammed Siraj for India’s T20I series against Ireland and England. Siraj has been dropped from the squad to manage his workload. Siraj and Krishna were both part of the team’s playing XI in the one-off Test match against Afghanistan.
Krishna returned with impressive figures of 3-37 in 11 overs he bowled in the first innings, whereas Siraj could only take a solitary wicket in the whole match.
Meanwhile, Krishna and Siraj both played a key role in taking Gujarat Titans to the final of IPL 2026. While Siraj scalped 19 wickets in 17 matches, Krishna bagged 16 wickets in 12 matches of the season.
“Following discussions between the BCCI Medical Team and the Team Management, Siraj has been advised a period of rest as part of his workload management programme. The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to ensure adequate recovery ahead of a long international season,” the BCCI said in a release on Tuesday.
Siraj was a late addition to the Indian squad in its last T20I assignment, the T20 World Cup 2026. The pacer from Hyderabad had returned with impressive figures of 3-29 in his four overs against the USA in the opening game.
On the other hand, Prasidh Krishna last played a T20I in November 2023, against Australia.
India is scheduled to play two T20Is against Ireland on June 26 and 28 in Belfast, before taking on host England in five T20Is between July 1 and 11.
