PSL 2022: Credit goes to Fakhar Zaman and Harry Brook, they played really well – Shaheen Shah Afridi

Lahore Qalandars captain Shaheen Shah Afridi gave credit to Fakhar Zaman and Harry Brook after his team comprehensively defeated Islamabad United by 66 runs in the 27th match of the ongoing Pakistan Super League at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore on Saturday.

Fakhar Zaman continued his rich form as he scored 51 runs off just 41 balls after Shaheen Shah Afridi won the toss and decided to bat first.

The middle-order could not get going for Lahore Qalandars but Harry Brook played an unbeaten knock of 102 runs off just 49 balls with the help of 10 fours and five sixes to help his team post a par score of 197 runs on the board.

On the other hand, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Zaman Khan, Haris Rauf, and Rashid Khan, who played his last match of the season, scalped two wickets each for Lahore Qalandars to restrict Islamabad United at 131-9.

Shaheen Shah Afridi said while talking in the post-match presentation, “We made a good come back. The credit goes to Fakhar and Brook. They played really well. We all know how Fakhar can play. We also saw the ability of Brook. Zaman (Khan) has impressed a lot. Whenever he gets the ball, he wants to do something. He is very talented. We will miss Rashid. He keeps the dressing room atmosphere nice as well. But all the best to him as he will be on national duty”.

Meanwhile, Rashid Khan will leave Lahore Qalandars as he will join Afghanistan for national duty. Rashid was given a grand send-off by his teammates.

Rashid said after the game, “Lahore has taken good care of me. I am so happy with the love. I wish them all the very best for the rest of the competition. It makes me happy that I am leaving the team with us on the top. It is a wonderful family. It was about playing our natural game. We had a bad night yesterday. It was about enjoying your game”.

Lahore Qalandars will look to continue their good show and carry the momentum in playoff stages. The Qalandars will play their last league stage match against Peshawar Zalmi on Monday at the same venue.
