PSL 2022: He made the difference with his batting – Wahab Riaz on Mohammad Haris

Peshwar Zalmi captain Wahab Riaz showered praise on Mohammad Haris for his fine knock against Islamabad United in the 24th match of the ongoing Pakistan Super League 2022 at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore on Thursday.

Peshawar Zalmi posted a par score of 206 runs after Wahah Riaz won the toss and decided to bat first.

Haris was able to hit the ground running as he took the attack against the opposition bowlers. The wicket-keeper batter scored a blistering knock of 70 runs off just 32 balls with the help of seven fours and five sixes and scored his runs at a blistering strike rate of 218.75.

Thus, he played a key role in helping his team post more than 200 runs on the board.

In fact, Peshawar Zalmi scored 74 runs in the powerplay overs as Mohammad Haris did the bulk of the scoring for his team. Haris was also awarded the Player of the Match for his fine knock. Furthermore, Shoaib Malik also played a good knock of 38 runs off just 23 balls.

Wahab Riaz said in the post-match presentation, “As I said at the toss, the wicket looks really good to bat on, the batters took advantage of the powerplay and we got a good score.

Right now he is the difference to be honest, because of him life is going so well for us in the powerplay, putting pressure on the opposition with his batting [on Haris]. It was one of the most important overs, I knew Azam Khan was dangerous, and getting him out was the way to win and then it was easy to bowl to Musa and De Lange. This is something [the win] which will give a lot of boost and confidence in the games going forward”.

On the other hand, Wahab Riaz was able to lead from the front as he scalped two wickets and conceded only 26 runs in his quota of four overs. Furthermore, Salman Irshad took three wickets and gave away 29 runs in his allotted four overs for PSZ.

This was the fifth win of the season for Peshawar Zalmi and they will look to continue their winning momentum. The team was able to come up with a collective effort against Islamabad United. Peshawar Zalmi will play their last league stage match against Lahore Qalandars on Monday at the same venue.
