Multan Sultans are on a roll in the ongoing Pakistan Super League as they won their fifth game to continue their unbeaten streak in the tournament.
The defending champions defeated Peshawar Zalmi by a massive margin of 57 runs at the National Stadium, Karachi on Saturday.
Multan Sultans skipper Mohammad Rizwan continued his sublime form as he scored 82 runs off just 53 balls with the help of eight fours and one six. Peshawar Zalmi skipper Wahab Riaz won the toss and decided to bowl first but Shan Masood and Mohammad Rizwan added 84 runs for the opening alliance.
Tim David also continued his rich form as he blasted 51 runs off just 19 balls whereas Khushdil Shah scored a quickfire 7-ball 21. Thus, Multan Sultans were able to post an above par score of 222-3 in their 20 overs whereas Peshawar Zalmi could only manage 165-8 in their innings.
Rizwan is hopeful that they can continue playing in the same way and gave credit to the support staff for getting the best out of the team.
Rizwan said in the post-match presentation after he was awarded the Player of the Match for his fine knock, “You need to keep things simple. You need to think quickly and adapt, looking at the match situation. The players should play selflessly and they need to play for the team. We have a lot of upcoming youngsters. I think Andy Flower and the team management have put in a lot of effort to make this team. Hopefully, we continue playing in the same way.
On the other hand, Imran Tahir was the pick of the Multan Sultans bowlers as he scalped three wickets and conceded 25 runs in his quota of four overs. Tahir was delighted with the performance of the team.
He said after the game, “It’s nice to see we got over the line tonight. The batters set the tone with such a big score and our bowlers did well to pull things back. Five wins a row, can’t ask for anything more. It was a great bowling spell by me, I stuck to my plans. Dahani is a big guy for us, I wish him all the best. We have been playing good cricket, so we need to prepare ourselves before we move to Lahore”.
Multan Sultans will once again take on Peshawar Zalmi at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore on Thursday.
