Islamabad United will lock horns against previous season’s runners-up Peshawar Zalmi in the Eliminator match of the Pakistan Super League 2022 at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore on Thursday.
United have been struggling with their injuries and they will hope that their full-time captain Shadab Khan returns to the playing XI.
ISU was able to make it to the playoff stages despite winning only four matches but their progress was hampered by a plethora of injuries. Thus, they will need to be at their best against a confident Peshawar Zalmi team. Islamabad United had lost their previous match against reigning champions Multan Sultans by six wickets.
On the other hand, Peshawar Zalmi had won six out of their 10 matches in the league stage and they will look to carry the same momentum in the playoff stages. Zalmi had won their previous match against Lahore Qalandars in the Super Over after Wahab Riaz conceded only five runs. Riaz will once again look to lead from the front.
Islamabad United Probable XI: Nasir Nawaz, Mohammad Huraira, Liam Dawson, Azam Khan (wk), Asif Ali, Shadab Khan (c), Muhammad Musa, Hasan Ali, Mohammad Wasim, Zahir Khan, Faheem Ashraf.
