Multan Sultans captain Mohammad Rizwan hailed the performance of his bowlers after they won against Quetta Gladiators comprehensively by nine wickets at the Multan Cricket Stadium, Multan on Wednesday.
Rizwan won the toss and decided to bowl first and the home team’s bowlers were right on the money from the get-go. No Quetta Gladiators batters could go past the 30-run mark as they were folded up for a paltry score of 110 runs.
Ihsanullah was the pick of the bowlers for Multan Sultans as he returned with impressive figures of 5-12 in his quota of four overs. Furthermore, Sameen Gul and Abbas Afridi bagged two wickets apiece to add to the visitors’ woes.
On the other hand, Multan Sultans were able to chase down the meager total in 13.3 overs after Rilee Rossouw scored an unbeaten knock of 78 runs from 42 balls with the help of nine fours and three sixes.
Mohammad Rizwan said in the post-match presentation, “Win is a win, get happy with that. The bowlers bowled well on this pitch, they stuck to their plans. We assess the conditions and bowled accordingly. We made the team according to the conditions. Rossouw played really well today. We always miss our main bowler – Dahani, but the youngsters bowled really well.”
Meanwhile, Sarfaraz Ahmed admitted they couldn’t execute their plans and it led to their downfall in the game. QG could not string any partnerships together in their batting innings as they failed to get going.
Ahmed said after the game, “We wanted to start well, but we weren’t able to do so. He bowled well, need to credit Ihsanullah for his brilliant bowling spell. We couldn’t execute our plans, unfortunately, tonight. We need to sort our batting, but we will surely bounce back. We need to work on our fast bowling, need to bowl in the right areas, to be honest.”
Multan Sultans will next face Peshawar Zalmi on Friday at the Multan Cricket Stadium, Multan.
