Afghanistan wicket-keeper bat Rahmanullah Gurbaz has revealed that Virat Kohli is always ready to help him when he is found wanting. Gurbaz opened up on how Kohli’s advice has helped him learn through a difficult phase.
Kohli has all the experience under his belt and he has always been open to giving advice to other countries’ players. The Indian veteran recently scored a majestic knock of 135 runs off just 120 balls in the opening ODI against South Africa at Ranchi on Sunday.
“I call Virat bhai sometimes when I am in trouble and I need help, and we talk. We discuss most of the time. Just recently, when I was in a situation where I was not able to score, I called him, and in the very next game, I scored 90 or something. He is very simple. The way he plays, he makes it simple and does not make things complicated. He tries to work hard and enjoy. We all need to be like this. When you can’t enjoy the game, then you can’t perform. He always helps me. From the last three years, we know each other. Anytime I call him, he’s always open to talk. That’s something you expect from your legend. I learn from him. He is such a nice and down-to-earth human being,” he said. (via Sports Tak)
Recently, Gurbaz scored a match-winning knock of 92 runs off just 48 balls in the third and final T20I against Zimbabwe. The right-hander scored eight fours and five sixes in his blistering knock to help Afghanistan post 210 runs on the board in their 20 overs.
Eventually, Afghanistan was able to register a nine-run win. Gurbaz scored a total of 147 runs in three T20Is against Zimbabwe as Afghanistan clean-swept the opposition by 3-0.
