Rahul Tripathi wins plaudits for his consistent match-winning performances

Rahul Tripathi continues to cause a stir in IPL 2022 and has grabbed the bulk of mainstream discussion among cricket lovers surrounding his potential selection in the Indian cricket team. Over the years with Kolkata Knight Riders, and this season with Sunrisers Hyderabad, he has shown a positive mindset and an intent to go after the bowlers which has reaped him rewards quite often.

Tripathi also seized the occasion while facing five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians. He smacked 76 runs off just 44 balls as SRH ended up posting a challenging score of 193/6 on the board. Because of his knock, the bowling unit had plenty to work with and ended up winning by three runs after restricting MI to a total of 190/7.

Rahul Tripathi’s innings led several experts, commentators and former cricketers mighty impressed. Immediately after the game, Ian Bishop advocated for Tripathi’s inclusion in international cricket while Harsha Bhogle tweeted that Tripathi will definitely be in his team for the upcoming T20 matches against South Africa once IPL 2022 comes to a conclusion.

Reviewing the clash between SRH and MI on his YouTube channel, former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra was also mesmerized by Rahul Tripathi’s heroics with the bat and picked his innings as the game-defining performance.

“In my opinion, Rahul Tripathi. He made 76 off 44 balls, with three sixes and nine fours. He had a strike rate of 172 and I will tell you one more thing about him, he has a strike rate above 190 in winning causes. So whenever they win the match, they win because of him, he runs at double speed, and when he gets out, Hyderabad is also out along with him,” said Chopra.

Echoing similar sentiments as Bishop and Bhogle, Aakash Chopra is also on board with Rahul Tripathi being handed his international cap. He asked for Tripathi’s presence in the Indian squad to face South Africa in the T20I series.

“And I am saying, because SKY (Suryakumar Yadav) might not be available at all, why not Rahul Tripathi for the series against South Africa? You will give him an opportunity sometime or the other and if he is doing so well in T20s regularly, I think it is his right that you keep him,” he added.

Tripathi has amassed 393 runs in IPL 2022 at a wonderful average of 39.30. He also has an exceptional strike rate of 161.72.
