Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain Rajat Patidar showered praise on the collective bowling performance after they won their maiden IPL title by beating Punjab Kings by six runs in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Tuesday.
RCB posted a fighting score of 190 runs on the board and they were able to deliver it with the ball to restrict the Mohali-based franchise to 184.
Krunal Pandya was the star of the show as he registered figures of 2-17 in his quota of four overs and accounted for Prabhsimran Singh and dangerous Josh Inglis. Bhuvneshwar Kumar returned with figures of 2-38 in his four overs whereas Yash Dayal conceded 18 runs in the three overs he bowled and bagged one wicket.
Kumar dismissed Nehal Wadhera and Marcus Stoinis in the same over to put RCB in front. The RCB bowlers were able to nail the right line and length and kept the opposition batters at bay in the run-chase.
Rajat Patidar said in the post-match presentation while talking to the official broadcasters, “The way bowlers executed their plans was tremendous to watch. Krunal is a wicket-taking bowler. Whenever I come under pressure, I look for KP. Suyash also bowled really well throughout the season. And all the fast bowlers – Bhuvi, Yash, Hazlewood and the way Romario came in and the way he gave 2-3 overs and the breakthrough was special.”
Patidar gave his gratitude to Virat Kohli for backing him as a leader and said the veteran deserved the IPL trophy after a long wait of 18 years.
Patidar concluded, “For me, it’s a great opportunity to do captaincy under him and it was a great learning for me. As I said, he deserves it more than anyone else. Virat Kohli and all the fans. Everyone who has supported – the management, support staff – the way they’ve supported the players was beautiful.”
