Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper Rajat Patidar revealed he is not looking forward to any selection regarding the Indian team. Patidar has led RCB from the front in IPL 2026, taking the team to their second consecutive final.
The RCB skipper has amassed 486 runs in 13 innings at an average of 44.18 and a blistering strike rate of 196.76 in the ongoing season (stats before IPL 2026 final) and thus he has played an instrumental role in his team’s success.
Patidar also scored a blistering knock of 93 runs in the first qualifier against Gujarat Titans as he batted at his absolute best. Since that whirlwind knock, many cricket boffins believe that Patidar has a good chance of returning to India’s T20I team and he should be backed by the selectors.
Patidar said in the pre-match press conference, “I’m not looking forward to any selection regarding India. So, I’m not looking forward for it. I don’t visualise to be the T20 captain of India.
The RCB skipper said he and his team want to stay in the present and not think too much about past accomplishments.
“Every captain wants to win the trophies. So last year we did it, but again it’s a new season. You cannot keep talking about 2025, what we have done. You have to be more in the present and do whatever best you can do to win the title.
“What has changed from last year? To be honest, I don’t think we have changed anything. Honestly, I don’t think we have changed anything. We are thinking differently. We are in the same mindset. But as I said earlier also, that we are not here to defend anything with the mindset of defending champion,” Patidar added.
Patidar would look to keep up the good show for RCB.
