Former Pakistan wicket-keeper batsman Rashid Latif praised India after the T20 World Cup 2026 success. Latif said India’s DNA is to win trophies, whereas Pakistan’s DNA is to lose. In the last 20 months, India has won three major ICC white-ball trophies.
In 2024, India won the T20 World Cup in the Caribbean. Subsequently, the Men in Blue lifted the Champions Trophy in Dubai and now have defended their T20 World Cup crown in home conditions.
India registered a comprehensive 96-run win against New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Sunday. SKY’s team posted a par score of 255 runs on the board after the top three batters scored fifties.
“Even after losing the toss, they made 250 runs. Nobody will be able to catch them. They have not done this overnight; it is the result of their hard work over the last 10 years or so. See the last ICC events or the Asia Cup,” Rashid Latif told reporters.
On the other hand, Pakistan was knocked out of the tournament in the Super 8 stage. Salman Ali Agha’s team suffered a loss against England and won narrowly against Sri Lanka after their match against New Zealand was abandoned due to rain.
“India’s DNA is to win trophies, and our DNA is to lose even before the knockouts. Their DNA is playing the final and winning,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board also fined every player 50 lakh PKR after their dismal show in the T20I showpiece.
“Weaker boards do this. When you sign a contract, it has everything. Fines and rewards are also mentioned,” Rashid remarked.
Pakistan also suffered a huge loss of eight wickets against Bangladesh in the opening ODI at Dhaka on Wednesday.
