Former Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin has expressed optimism that Prasidh Krishna will get his chance in T20Is ahead of the 2026 World Cup. Krishna was not included in India’s Asia Cup squad despite bagging the Purple Cap award in IPL 2025.
Though, the lanky pacer is among the stand-by players along with Yashasvi Jaiswal, Dhruv Jurel, Riyan Parag, and Washington Sundar.
Krishna scalped 25 wickets in 15 matches of IPL 2025 at an average of 19.52 and an economy rate of 8.27. Thus, the Karnataka seamer played a key role in taking the Gujarat Titans to the playoff stages.
Ravichandran Ashwin said on his YouTube Channel, “Prasidh Krishna had a good season with Rajasthan Royals. Then he suffered a career-threatening back injury. He underwent two consecutive back surgeries. Last year, remember, Gujarat is one of the toughest venues to bowl in. He is tall, he gets bounce, he bowls yorkers. The definition of his T20 bowling has changed. If I was Prasidh Krishna, I would be disappointed.”
Meanwhile, Harshit Rana had returned with figures of 3-33 on his T20I debut against England and he has been picked ahead of Krishna.
“But in the case of Prasidh and Harshit Rana, the last time Harshit played a T20I, in Pune, he had some performances behind him. Prasidh can wait his chance, but I feel he will get it. Before the T20 World Cup, Prasidh Krishna will get his chance, according to me. Mark my words, he will get his chance.”
India Squad for Asia Cup: Suryakumar Yadav (c), Shubman Gill (vc), Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Jitesh Sharma, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Varun Chakaravarthy, Jasprit Bumrah.
India will open their Asia Cup campaign against the UAE at the Dubai International Stadium on September 10.
