Former Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin has backed Cameron Green and Liam Livingstone to hit a jackpot in the upcoming IPL 2026 auction. Ashwin reckons Green and Livingstone’s value will increase in the mini-auction in the absence of Glenn Maxwell and Andre Russell.
While Maxwell has decided to skip IPL 2026, Russell has announced his retirement from the tournament. Russell has been given the new role of a Power coach by Kolkata Knight Riders.
Ashwin said on his YouTube Channel, ̌”Ask Cameron Green to book 4-5 acres near the Sydney harbor. He has entered the auction this time and there is no Andre Russell or Glenn Maxwell. CSK fans put him ( Maxwell) at No. 6 and were waiting for him but now that chance is gone. So Liam Livingstone and Cameron Green have a big jackpot at the auction.”
Livingstone scored 122 runs in eight innings of IPL 2025 at an average of 16 and a strike rate of 133.33. The England International scalped two wickets in five innings of the previous season.
On the other hand, Green did not play in IPL 2025 because of an injury. He has scored 521 runs in 21 T20Is at an average of 32.56 and a strike rate of 162.31. The Australian all-rounder has scored 707 runs in 29 IPL matches at an average of 41.59 and a strike rate of 153.70.
Meanwhile, Maxwell had failed to deliver the goods in the previous season of the tournament, managing only 48 runs in six innings at an average of eight and a strike rate of 97.95. Thus, he was not retained by the Punjab Kings ahead of the auction.
The all-rounder was bought for INR 4.20 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction. Maxwell has scored 2,819 runs at a strike rate of 155.15 in his IPL career.
On the other hand, Andre Russell scored 167 runs in 10 innings at a strike rate of 163.72, including a 50 in IPL 2025. Furthermore, Dre Russ scalped eight wickets in nine innings at an average of 27.12 and an economy of 11.94.
The IPL 2026 auction is all set to take center stage on December 16, 2025, at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.
