India’s rising star Musheer Khan has revealed that his teammate Rishabh Pant and opposition captain Shubman Gill provided him with tips to counter Kuldeep Yadav in the Duleep trophy 2024. India B found themselves under the cosh at 94-7 however Musheer Khan was able to rescue the team out of the troubled waters.
Khan scored a fantastic knock of 102 runs off 227 balls on the opening day of the Duleep trophy. The 19-year-old was able to keep Yadav at bay and looked at ease after getting settled at the crease.
The youngster went on to score a magnum opus knock of 181 runs but he was eventually dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav with Riyan Parag taking the catch.
“This is the second time I’ve faced Kuldeep bhai. Rishabh bhai and Shubman bhai gave me insights into which deliveries from Kuldeep would be effective and which ones I could score off. Once I got set, batting became easier,” Musheer Khan said after the day’s play (via India Today).
Khan noted that rubbing shoulders with the senior players is a good learning experience for him.
“Playing alongside and against senior players is a great experience. Observing their mindset, confidence, and preparation is helping me grow as a cricketer,” he added.
The youngster added he wanted to stay at the crease for as long as possible and not worry about the runs.
“I wanted to bat as long as possible without worrying about the runs. I was focusing on playing session by session and playing the ball close to my body to avoid risky shots. I knew the runs would come eventually,” Musheer spoke of his approach in the same interaction.
India B are currently 321-9 after 115 overs on the second day’s play.
