Former Indian batter Robin Uthappa said India’s fast bowler Prasidh Krishna has failed to live up to his expectations. Krishna is currently part of India’s three-match ODI series against Australia but he didn’t get his chance in the opening game at Perth.
Krishna was part of the first two Test matches against England but was then dropped after mundane performances. However, the lanky fast bowler from Karnataka played a key role in India’s memorable win at the Kennington Oval, London. Krishna bagged a total of eight wickets in the final game of the series and provided good support to Mohammed Siraj.
The fast bowler bagged 14 wickets in three Test matches at an average of 37.07 against England. The 29-year-old has thus far taken 59 wickets in International cricket.
Robin Uthappa said on his YouTube Channel, “I think there are some seam bowlers in India who really need to quickly get in that stride because they are getting enough opportunities at the highest level. Someone like Prasidh Krishna, I think he is an incredible bowler who has got tremendous potential, but I don’t think he is living up to his potential right now.”
On the other hand, former Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath praised Krishna and feels he can be more lethal if he gets his length right.
“Prasidh Krishna, who I’ve done a bit of work with over in India, coaching over there a while back now. I think he’s really come to age, the way he bowled in the IPL recently was brilliant. He’s quite an enforcer. He just needs to get that length right, and I think he’ll do really well.”
The second ODI between India and Australia will be played at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday.
