In a major move to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2025 Women’s Premier League (WPL) season, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have announced the signing of England’s explosive batter, Danni Wyatt.
The signing, confirmed by the league’s website, sees Wyatt join RCB from UP Warriorz (UPW) through a trade, maintaining her initial auction fee of INR 30 lakhs.
Wyatt, known for her aggressive batting style brings a wealth of international experience to the defending WPL champions. With a record-breaking 164 T20 International appearances for England, Wyatt holds the title of the most-capped English player in this format.
RCB captain Smriti Mandhana expressed her excitement over Wyatt’s inclusion, describing her as a player who fits the team’s aspirations.
“Danielle is a game-changer and a phenomenal athlete. Her skills and competitive spirit align perfectly with our team’s vision. We are excited to welcome her to RCB and look forward to the energy she will bring to the squad,” Mandhana said in a statement.
Wyatt’s recent form has been impressive. She was England’s top scorer in the Women’s T20 World Cup, held in the United Arab Emirates, where she notched up 151 runs across four matches, averaging 50.33 with a strike rate of 124.79. Her unbeaten 51 against Scotland was a standout performance, despite England’s early exit before the semifinals.
Following the World Cup, Wyatt has continued her form in Australia’s Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL), representing the Hobart Hurricanes. Her experience across different leagues will be invaluable to RCB as they aim to defend their WPL title.
RCB, led by Mandhana, are riding high after their title-winning season, where they clinched the WPL trophy by defeating Delhi Capitals in the final by eight wickets in March. Wyatt’s addition to the squad further bolsters their batting lineup.
The trade signals RCB’s intent to solidify its dominance in the league and capitalize on Wyatt’s international experience. As one of the league’s most anticipated transfers, Wyatt’s arrival is expected to enhance the team’s firepower and keep RCB in strong contention for the upcoming season.
