Chennai Super Kings captain Ruturaj Gaikwad has revealed that he will get to know about MS Dhoni’s future in the IPL in the next season itself. Dhoni didn’t play a solitary match in this season of the IPL after he was ruled out with a calf strain.
Chennai Super Kings were knocked out of the tournament after suffering a 89-run loss against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Thursday.
Dhoni, with the whole CSK squad, had taken a lap of MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai after the franchise suffered a loss against Sunrisers Hyderabad, indicating that this could be final season with the team.
Gaikwad said they really missed Dhoni’s services in the 2026 season as he could have added the finishing touches for them.
Gaikwad said after the loss against GT, “Obviously you will get to know it next year itself. Even I’ll get to know it next year itself. Obviously, it’s a hard, hard miss for us definitely. He’s someone who can, have a fear in the opposition, especially coming in those late overs. Can really change the game, can really change the momentum just by staying at the crease. So, he’s someone, definitely we missed a lot this season. But, I mean, we never know about next season, but obviously really happy with the guys we had and, really happy with the experience they got this year.”
The CSK skipper admitted they got outplayed by GT in all three departments of the game.
Gaikwad concluded, “Yes, also keeping in mind, we wanted to kind of chase whatever the total is as early as possible. And, obviously, when you chasing 230, anyways in 20 overs, it’s not going to be easy with the kind of bowling attack they have. But, just why don’t give it a shot and, just go out there and express. And obviously, credit to them. They outplayed us in all departments.”
CSK will look to bounce back stronger in the next season.
