SA vs IND 2023: ‘Ideal batter’ Rinku Singh should be at number six for India, says Jacques Kallis

Former South African talisman all-rounder Jacques Kallis feels Rinku Singh should bat at number six for India in the T20I series. Singh has scored 180 runs in six T20I innings at a blistering strike rate of 187.5 and he has shown the skills to add the finishing touches for the national team.

Singh scored 105 runs in four innings against Australia in a recent series at an average of 52.50 and a strike rate of 175. The left-hander scored a blistering knock of 46 runs off just 29 balls in the fourth game against the Aussies to help India post 174 runs.

Meanwhile, Singh had done a fine job while playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL. The left-hander has scored 725 runs in 31 IPL matches at an average of 36.25 and a strike rate of 142.16.

Jacques Kallis said on Star Sports, “He’s a class act. You know, as we’ve seen over the last few months, what he’s done for India. Finishing games. It’s not just silly cricket. It’s a real good cricketing shots when it needs to be. He can attack when he needs to do that towards the back end of an innings.”

“So you know the ideal batter to be batting at number six. Along with the rest, the team, that’s a formidable finishing to an innings. In case one doesn’t come off, you know, you’ve got a few others that can step up and do it. So for me, Rinku should be the number six and given a proper opportunity.”

Rinku Singh will look to continue his good form against South Africa and deliver the goods for the national team. After his impressive start to T20I career, Singh has received a maiden call-up for the ODI series against South Africa.

The second T20I will be played between India and South Africa at the St George’s Park, Gqeberha on Tuesday after the first game was abandoned due to persistent rain at Kingsmead, Durban on Sunday.
