SA20 2023: I am excited to see him back – Jos Buttler on return of Jofra Archer

Paarl Royals wicket-keeper batter Jos Buttler is excited to see Jofra Archer get back into action in the upcoming SA20, which will kick off on Tuesday at Cape Town. Paarl Royals will begin their campaign against MI Cape Town in the curtain-raiser of the tournament.

Archer has missed a lot of action due to injury woes and he will be looking to hit the ground running for MI Cape Town. Buttler, who is England’s white-ball captain, will face his English teammate in the tournament’s opener.

Archer will hold the key for MI Cape Town and he will look to deliver the goods for the team. Similarly, Jos Buttler is going to be a crucial player for Paarl Royals, which will be led by David Miller.

Speaking on Paarl Royals Twitter handle, Buttler said, “You know, selfishly, I’m excited to see Jofra Archer back on the pitch,” Buttler said. “Jofra has been out for a long time due to some injuries and selfishly, as an England white-ball captain, I’m excited to see him back and available and playing cricket.

“So, I think that’s a treat for everyone around the world that such an x-factor player is back on the field. We will have to be at our very best to combat him because he’s a superstar. But I think it’s a great moment that he’s going to be back playing cricket competitively.”

Meanwhile, Archer will join English players such as Liam Livingstone, Olly Stone, and Sam Curran in MI Cape Town. On the other hand, Buttler will have the company of Jason Roy, and former England captain Eoin Morgan.

On the other hand, Rashid Khan will lead MI Cape Town in SA20. Khan had played the vice-captaincy role for Gujarat Titans in IPL 2022 and he feels there won’t be any leadership pressure.

Khan told reporters, “I think the experience of being vice-captain in the IPL for Gujarat (Gujarat Titans) has been good and that has helped me as a player as well. It is just about you making sure you enjoy your cricket and you can only give your hundred percent and what capability you have, you just need to focus on that.”

He continued: “So, I feel like there won’t be any pressure, there is an excitement that a lot of things will be there that I can learn as a captain and that will make me a better cricketer as well so, just looking forward to that.”
