Sachin Tendulkar hails Ravindra Jadeja after England series, says he is an underrated player

Legendary Sachin Tendulkar showered praise on Ravindra Jadeja for performing consistently in the recently concluded Test series against England. The left-hander delivered consistently while batting in the lower order and played a key role in team’s success.

Jadeja aggregated 516 runs in five Test matches against England at an impressive average of 86. Furthermore, the left-arm orthodox spinner scalped seven wickets in five games at an average of 72.43.

The southpaw scored a valiant knock of 61 runs off 181 balls in the second innings at Lord’s, but his efforts went in vain. Jadeja scored 107 runs at Old Trafford, Manchester, and helped India draw that game.

Speaking to Reddit, Sachin Tendulkar said, “I would say, an underrated player. The way he contributes, he doesn’t get that much credit. As a batter, he has been remarkable in this series. Not only in this series, but if you notice many times, he’ll come and he’ll rattle the opposition.”

The Master Blaster also showered praise on KL Rahul for scoring 532 runs against England in five Test matches at an average of 53.2.

Tendulkar added, “It’s possibly one of the best that I’ve seen him (Rahul) bat. The way he was defending, close to the body and the way he was leaving the ball, I thought he was completely organised. He knew where his off stump was and where to leave the ball. I almost got this feeling that sometimes he was able to frustrate the bowler.”

On the other hand, Rishabh Pant once again performed consistently for the team in overseas conditions. Pant aggregated 479 runs in seven innings at an average of 68.43 against England. Tendulkar lauded the wicket-keeper bat for playing impactful knocks in the red-ball version.

“He has developed a good habit of playing impactful innings. He’s figured out his game. There were occasions where people felt that he didn’t need to play a certain shot, but someone like Rishabh should be left alone,” said Tendulkar (via the aforementioned source).

India was able to come up with a collective effort against England.
