Sai Kishore reveals what he learned from MS Dhoni, says veteran stays detached from social media

Indian spinner Sai Kishore has revealed that former Indian captain MS Dhoni stays away from his mobile and social media, which has inspired him a lot. Kishore has played 25 IPL matches and he has scalped 32 wickets so far.

The left-arm orthodox spinner has had important conversations with MS Dhoni when Gujarat Titans have played against Chennai Super Kings in the lucrative tournament.

“I have learnt a lot about this from Dhoni. He would never pick up his phone. He used to leave his phone in his hotel room and come for the games. That’s how detached he would be. This inspired me because I used to ask myself if being involved in Social Media is needed. So looking at him inspired me,” Kishore said in an interview on Provoke TV YouTube channel.

On the other hand, CSK’s spinner Shreyas Gopal said Dhoni has always been humble and down to earth despite getting all the media attention and fame in his career. Gopal added it is not easy to be MS Dhoni.

“It’s very hard to be MS Dhoni; it’s extremely hard. People think that it’s very easy to be MS Dhoni. There is a lot of fame and people shout [cheer], but to be him, to be so grounded and to be so humble and to be so empathetic, caring is very hard. And you also understand that he’s also a human being. He loves doing very simple and basic things, and that is his greatness,” Gopal said on Sports Yaari.

Dhoni is known for his astute leadership and he guided CSK to five IPL titles. Furthermore, the former Indian skipper led the national team to three major ICC trophies.

“Mainly, it’s basically how to handle a player, how to put a player in a tournament, who to use for the specific over, tactically, there have been so many talks with him. And there’s no one better than him; everyone knows that. So, learning captaincy, learning how to finish matches, just learning how to, the way he deals with his stardom,” Gopal added.

Dhoni, 44, is yet to decide on his IPL future.
