Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer showered praise on Prabhsimran Singh after they registered a comprehensive seven wicket win against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Thursday.
Chasing 196 for the win, Singh scored a match-winning knock of 80 runs off just 39 balls with the help of 11 fours and two sixes. The right-hander from Punjab had the rub of the green on his side as his catch was fluffed by Jasprit Bumrah when he was on 11.
The PBKS opener added 139 runs off 66 balls with his skipper Shreyas Iyer, who scored 66 runs off 35 balls to continue his rich form.
With this win, PBKS have now won three matches in a row against MI.
Shreyas Iyer said in the post-match presentation, “Prabhsimran has certainly raised up his bar, even though he was getting runs, he was giving us excellent starts, this year he has been more mature, match by match he is getting more mature.”
Iyer also hailed the bowling unit for bouncing back after MI was going strongly in the first innings.
He added, “We have this tendency of pulling things back, even against SRH, the way we bowled.. We haven’t decided about that as of now, I have been luck to win the toss, lot of positive players in the team to go out and express themselves. I personally feel you need to keep getting better each and every game, that is the recipe we keep following.”
The PBKS skipper added they are optimistic after four wins in five games. The Mohali-based franchise is the only unbeaten team in IPL 2026.
He concluded, “Certainly confident and optimistic the way we have been playing. Also we have our heads on our shoulder. I am glad that today we came out and got that victory.”
Punjab Kings will next take on Lucknow Super Giants at New Chandigarh on Sunday.
