Former Indian batter Subramaniam Badrinath has named three England players who can be a threat to India in the T20 World Cup 2026 semifinal. Badrinath picked England captain Harry Brook, leg-spinner Adil Rashid, and fast bowler Jofra Archer as the players India should be wary of.
Brook has been in fine form and had scored a majestic century against Pakistan in the Super 8 clash. The right-hander has scored 228 runs in seven matches of the ongoing T20I showpiece at an average of 32.57 and a strike rate of 161.70.
Adil Rashid has scalped 11 wickets in seven matches at an average of 19, whereas Jofra Archer has snared 10 wickets in as many games in the tournament.
“I feel three England players can be a threat to India. One is Harry Brook, he is batting really well. In the bowling, two players. One is Jofra Archer. There will be some extra bounce at the Wankhede, and one more is Adil Rashid. He is bowling very slow and that will be a challenge for Indian batters, they will have to use their feet,” Badrinath said on ‘Cric It with Badri’.
On the other hand, former Indian fast bowler Laxmipathy Balaji said India has got the momentum but England has a solid team as their bowling unit has performed consistently.
“India has got the momentum. Yes, you cannot rule England out. Their bowling has performed well. They have solid spinners,” he stated.
Badrinath said India should bowl first at the Wankhede Stadium in the semifinal clash.
“You should definitely bowl first at the Wankhede if you win the toss. There is no doubt in that. Even if England get 200, I fancy India to get it. You don’t know how much is really enough if you have to set a score. I think it will become tricky, so I would look to chase. The toss will be very crucial,” he said.
India will take on England in the second semifinal at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, on Thursday.
