India’s former T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav revealed he lost his cool on Kuldeep Yadav during the high-octane 2026 T20 World Cup match against Pakistan. Yadav said Kuldeep wasn’t happy after he was introduced as the fifth bowler in the attack and wanted to bowl more.
However, SKY had other bowling plans against the arch-rivals. Meanwhile, SKY recalled that he was not happy with Kuldeep’s effort at the boundary rope when he bungled Shaheen Shah Afridi’s catch. The former Indian captain said dropping a catch is part of the game but Kuldeep didn’t put in the right effort, which frustrated him.
Suryakumar Yadav said on Aakash Chopra’s YouTube Channel, “The match started, and there was no time to bowl him. He was a little disappointed and wanted to bowl. I completed Axar’s spell and then bowled Tilak, Varun, and Hardik. He was like, ‘Meri bowling kyu nahi aa rahi hai?’ There was a chance of a catch when he was at long-on. He ran very casually, and it was an easy catch according to his skills. He dropped the catch, and I got angry at that time. If he dropped the catch after making an effort, that’s fine, but he did not put in any effort.”
SKY said after landing in Ahmedabad for the match against the Netherlands, he got an idea of making a reel with Kuldeep to lighten the mood.
“When we met after the match, we looked at each other in anger. He turned red in anger, and I also looked at him angrily. It looked like that on the screen, but it was banter. After landing in Ahmedabad, I got an idea about the reel. Sometimes it’s good to lighten up the moment.”
India registered a convincing 61-run win against Pakistan and Kuldeep returned with figures of 1-14 in three overs he bowled.
Kuldeep recently could only take a solitary wicket in the opening Test match against Sri Lanka and was ruled out of the second game due to infection.
