Former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq reckons India’s batting strength has increased with the inclusion of Suryakumar Yadav, who has been in the form of his life. SKY is ticking all the right boxes and he has been performing consistently for the team.
The right-hander is known to hit the ground running and he is well known to score his runs all around the ground. Yadav scored a fine knock of 69 runs in the deciding T20I against Australia and also scored two fifties against South Africa in the first two matches.
The 32-year-old also continued his excellent form in the warm-up match against Australia as he scored a fine fifty on Monday while batting at the Gabba, Brisbane.
“After Suryakumar Yadav’s inclusion, India’s batting strength has increased. The range he has and the kind of shots he plays against any bowler – he had all types of shots – and because of this, the role of the top order has changed as well. Then there is Hardik Pandya and Dinesh Karthik who play the finisher’s role,” Misbah was quoted as saying by A-Sports.
Meanwhile, India had batted with a sedate approach in the previous edition of the T20 World Cup, which had led to their downfall. However, the Men in Blue have adopted an aggressive approach in recent times and they are reaping rewards for the same.
“Overall, you can see that after last year’s World Cup they have decided to change their approach. Earlier they had a strategy like the current Pakistan team. But now they have taken an England-like policy – which is to just go after the bowling. They score the maximum runs in the Powerplay and according to that, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul have adapted. Even Virat Kohli, who used to take time earlier, comes and starts attacking,” he pointed out.
India’s batting has been up to the mark in the recent past and their top order has done a fine job for the team. However, their bowling has been their Achilles Heel as the bowlers have failed to hit the right areas.
India will begin their T20 World Cup campaign against Pakistan on Sunday.
