Pakistan will lock horns against Canada in the 22nd match of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York on Tuesday. It will be a must-win contest for the Babar Azam-led team as they have lost their opening two matches against the USA and India.
Pakistan had the match in their pocket against the arch-rivals but their batting unit could not chase down a paltry score of 120 runs. Pakistan bowlers were right on the money against India but their batting unit let them down. Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf bagged three wickets each but their efforts went in vain.
The Babar Azam-led team will need to win by a huge margin to boost their Net Run Rate. Pakistan adopted a sedate batting approach against India and they will need to be at their best against Canada.
On the other hand, Canada lost their opening match of the tournament against the USA by seven wickets. However, the Saad Bin Zafar registered a 12-run win against Ireland. Nicholas Kirton and Shreyas Movva scored 49 and 37 runs respectively for Canada whereas Jeremy Gordan and Dillon Heyliger bagged two wickets apiece.
Pakistan have been timid so far in the tournament and thus they need to pull up their socks. The Men in Green are on the verge of elimination and will need to register a win to keep themselves afloat in the tournament.
Match Prediction: Pakistan will enter the contest as favorites but they wouldn’t want to take Canada lightly.
