India hasn’t had the best of experiences at Wankhede Stadium in the semifinal of the World Cup. The Indians had suffered a loss in the 1987 World Cup semis against England and then suffered a crushing loss against the West Indies in the 2016 T20 World Cup semifinal.

However, they would want to turn the tables against England at the same venue on Thursday. In the 2024 T20 World Cup semifinal, India had bested England comprehensively by 68 runs and the Men in Blue would want to repeat the same show.

India’s bowling coach Morne Morkel admitted that they haven’t yet played a complete match thus far in the tournament and it won’t be bad timing for SKY’s team to bring their A-game in the all-important semis. India has been sloppy in the field and that’s one area they can’t afford to get wrong against England.

Varun Chakravarthy hasn’t been at his absolute best in the last three games and he would aim to be right on the money. The mystery spinner had scalped 14 wickets in five matches against England earlier in 2025 and he would want to bowl with aplomb.

On the other hand, England’s spin trio of Liam Dawson, Adil Rashid and Will Jacks have done a fantastic job. However, their openers – Phil Salt and Jos Buttler – haven’t fired at all cylinders.
