India’s talismanic batter Virat Kohli has revealed he is in a happy place as he continued his sublime form in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022. Kohli scored another fine knock of unbeaten 64 runs off just 44 balls to help India post a par score of 184 runs against Bangladesh at Adelaide Oval on Wednesday.
Kohli added 67 runs for the second wicket with KL Rahul, who got back to runs as he scored 50 off 32 balls. In fact, Kohli built his innings in his typical fashion as he scored 32 runs off the first 28 balls he faced and played an anchor role.
However, Kohli was able to change gear as he scored the next 32 runs off the next 16 balls he faced. Kohli once again relied on his timing to score his runs and batted at the top of his game to help the team in posting a par score.
The linchpin once again remained unbeaten to bat right through the innings and played a key role in India’s five-run win (DLS method).
Kohli returned back to form in the Asia Cup when he scored 276 runs in five matches at an average of 92. The right-hander then also scored consistently in the bilateral series against Australia and South Africa while playing in the home conditions.
Virat Kohli said in the post-match presentation after he was awarded the Player of the Match, “Pretty close game. Not as close as we would have liked it to be. A good day with the bat. When I went in there was a bit of pressure. I didn’t want little mistakes to curb my instincts. I am in a happy place. I don’t want to compare it with the past. As soon as I knew the WC is in Australia, I was grinning from ear to ear. Good cricketing shots will be the key here is what I know. Hitting through the line is what I do in every format. It is just an extension for me.”
Furthermore, Kohli continued his love affair with Adelaide Oval as he scored another match-winning knock at the venue. Kohli admitted that he feels at home on this ground.
Kohli added, “I love playing at this ground. This makes me feel at home. When I come to Adelaide, I am meant to enjoy myself and keep batting.”
Kohli’s form is a big positive for the team and he will look to continue the same. India will next take on Zimbabwe at the MCG on Sunday.
