England’s veteran fast bowler James Anderson has stated that it is always special to dismiss Indian captain Virat Kohli because he is such a good player.
Kohli has always been a big wicket for the opposition and England has done well in keeping the Indian captain quiet in the first three Test matches of the series.
Kohli has thus far scored 124 runs in three Test matches at a paltry average of 24.80. Anderson stated that he let the emotions flow in the Leeds Test match after picking the wicket of Virat Kohli.
The experienced fast bowler has had his wood on Virat Kohli in the ongoing series as he has dismissed him on two occasions. Overall, Anderson has got rid of Kohli seven times and it has always been an enthralling contest between the two talisman players.
“When I got Kohli out in the first innings in Leeds there was a lot of emotion. It was the same as at Trent Bridge. I guess there is that extra something with him because he is such a good player and their captain as well. You see how much it means to him when his team takes a wicket so I want to show him what it means to us to get him out,” Anderson wrote in his column for The Telegraph.
On the other hand, Ollie Robinson has also done a good job for England. Robinson scalped a five-wicket haul in the second innings of the Leeds Test and he has also dismissed Kohli on two occasions in the ongoing series. Anderson feels it is imperative to bowl in partnerships.
“The ultimate aim is to bowl in a partnership and there was a good example of us working together in India’s second innings at Headingley. For the first 12 balls I bowled at Virat Kohli, he left ten. Joe Root was asking me to try and make him play a bit more. I was thinking, ‘I don’t want him to get off to a flyer,'” said Anderson.
It will be crucial for India that Virat Kohli finds his form whereas England will hope Anderson could continue his good run. The fourth Test match will begin from today at the Oval.
