India’s fielding coach T Dilip has showered praise on Rohit Sharma, stating there are very few good human beings like him. Rohit is known for his jovial nature off the field but he is equally serious on the field and doesn’t shy away from giving a piece of his mind to his players if they are casual in their approach.
Dilip has observed Rohit from close quarters as a fielding coach and has great respect for the Indian skipper. Rohit is known to lead from the front and has played an instrumental role in the success of the side.
“I don’t have to talk about his batting because everyone knows he’s one of the best pullers of the ball. All that is there, but the angle that I’ve seen through my work… When I was with the Deccan Chargers, I was able to see Rohit Sharma from a distance. In the last three years, whatever time I’ve spent with him, there are very few good human beings like him that I’ve seen in life,” Dilip said on Raw Talks with VK podcast on YouTube.
Dilip revealed Rohit shares a special bond with every member of the team.
“Another thing is the relationship he has with every member of the team. The relation, the bond he’s built by talking to each one,” he added.
In the ODI series against Sri Lanka, Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar lost his run-up twice in succession and Rohit saw the light side of things.
“He is actually a very funny person, a happy-going person on the field. You also must have seen, in the match the other day, when Washington skipped twice, the running… So he tries to create a very nice environment on the ground as a leader.
“There are funny incidents around that but he’s a great human being and there’s no need to talk about how good his leadership is… There’s the World Cup and the IPL trophies before that. He’s one of the best,” Dilip added.
Rohit will next lead in the two-match Test series against Bangladesh, which will begin on September 19.
