Royal Challengers Bengaluru hard-hitter Tim David has said they will look to put pressure on Mumbai Indians gun fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah from the word go in the 20th match of IPL 2025 at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Bumrah will return to action after recovering from a back injury, which he suffered in the fifth Test match against Australia at Sydney, earlier in the year.
David acknowledged that Bumrah is the best in the business and for them to go deep in IPL 2025, they must beat the best teams as well as the players.
On the other hand, Bumrah would look to hit the ground running as Mumbai Indians have managed a solitary win in four games.
David said in the pre-match presser, “Yeah Bumrah’s pretty widely recognized as the best bowler going around and that’s the challenge we want to have at RCB. If we’re going to go deep in this tournament, we need to beat the best teams, we need to beat the best players. So, hopefully Bumrah is bowling the first over tomorrow night and the first ball goes for 4 or 6 from whoever’s opening the batting for us, that’ll be a statement.”
“It’ll be great to have him back playing in the tournament because the game’s better with him in it.”
Tim David, who was part of MI’s squad in the last few seasons, said they wanted to be challenged by the best and they would look to carry the good show.
“I’ll just try and get my toes out of the way, he’s got a pretty lethal yorker. He’s a brilliant bowler and when you put in big performances against the best teams, against the best players, they’re the best feelings you get as a player. So you want to be challenged by the best and I’m looking forward to that.”
RCB batters would look to be at their best against Bumrah, as he is going to hold the key.
